As a 3d artist I frequently run into situation when the available tools are limited, or I have to perform repetative actions, or the tools provided by the application is not enough. I started to create my own tools to overcome this situation.
I have experience in scripting for Softimage, Max and Maya. I wrote the very first connection between Softimage and ZBrush GoSoftimageLite.
I made modeling and UV mapping tools (called JesterAddon) and made an xNormal Connection (xNormalExportAddon), that makes the following:

Using your low res model creates a cage, and maintain to extact topology of the original mesh

Allows you to set up the parameters of map baking

Builds up the XML setting files

Calls xNormal to bake the checked maps
